The objective of this thesis was to evaluate the effectiveness of periodontal treatment in smoking patients with periodontitis, a multifactorial inflammatory disease that affects the supporting tissues of the tooth and that can cause mobility and tooth loss. A cross-sectional observational study was carried out with a sample of 20 patients treated at the Dental Clinic of the Andrés Bello University of Concepción during the period 2021- 2022, who had the complete digital clinical record available in Dentidesk reviewed. The results showed a significant improvement in oral health, measured by the oral hygiene index (OHI) 87-89%, probing depth (PS) 3 mm, bleeding on probing (BOP) 4-7% and the level clinical insertion length (NIC) 3 mm, in both women and men. It is concluded that non-surgical periodontal therapy is effective in treating periodontitis in smoking patients.
