A través de la historia el idioma inglés ha alcanzado un puesto relevante dado que ha sido ampliamente difundido por los ingleses de Gran Bretaña y por los estadounidenses. En la actualidad, el inglés se ha transformado en la lengua universal por excelencia, que conecta y comunica a las personas en este mundo globalizado. Cada día, más y más personas están interesadas en aprender este idioma puesto queda la posibilidad de comunicarse con persona de hablas totalmente distintas y de compartir conocimientos que se originan en otras partes del globo.
"Back to the Future" es una propuesta diseñada acorde a los planes y programas del Ministerio de Educación chileno, la cual combina las expresiones culturales provenientes de la lengua inglesa como la historia, la música, el cine y las celebraciones; con el fin de contextualizar el idioma ingles bajo sus dos dimensiones: Como una herramienta de comunicación y como una expresión cultural.
La unidad se desarrolla bajo el enfoque comunicativo partiendo con una breve historia de la expansión del idioma inglés a través del mundo y su importancia a través de la historia. Luego continua desarrollando expresiones Culturales relacionadas con la música , el cine y las celebraciones con el propósito que los estudiantes se familiaricen con aspectos culturales del idioma.
Historically, the English language has reached a relevant position since it has been spread by people from Great Britain and The United States;nowadays, English has become the leading lnternational language which connects and communicates people in the context of a globalized world. More and more people are interested in learning English since it provides the possibility to communicate to other people who speak a totally different languageand share the updated knowledge coming from other countries. The economic activity is also conducted in English. "Back to the future" is a proposal designed according to the national curriculum of Ministry of Education in Chile that combines thecultural expressions of the English language such as: history, music, film, and celebrations in arder to contextualize the English language in its two dimensions: not only as a communicative tool, but also as a cultural expression. The unit itself is developed in the light of the communicative approach, a brief historical account of the English language expansion and its importance throughout history. Culture, music, film, and celebrations are developed in arder to acquaint the students with sorne aspects of the English culture.
