Resumen
El término “desarrollo sostenible” refiere a la capacidad de garantizar las necesidades del presente
sin comprometer las posibilidades de futuras generaciones de satisfacer sus propias necesidades,
por lo que el compromiso de varios mercados sobre la huella de carbono fue aumentando con los
años. El mercado de la construcción es uno de los mayores contaminantes, representando el 36%
de los gastos energéticos y 39% de emisión de CO2 a nivel mundial, por lo que junto al transporte
tienen un compromiso mucho mayor a otros mercados de implementar procesos sostenibles para
poder cumplir con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sustentable (ODS). Agregando también que la
inversión mundial de la construcción durante 2018 fue de USD4,5 trillones, de los cuales solamente
USD139 billones se invirtieron en procesos de eficiencia energética (representando el 3% de la
inversión total) la construcción debe implementar muchas más políticas de forma urgente para
poder ser parte de la Agenda 2030. Esto pone en evidencia el bajo interés que tienen las empresas,
e inversores, constructoras en moverse hacia un proceso sostenible y la necesidad de centrarse en
aumentar ese interés.
Dentro de las distintas metodologías a ser implementadas que permiten a la construcción contribuir
en la Sustentabilidad se encuentra a la Reutilización de Residuos de Construcción y Demolición de
distintas formas con el mismo fin de minimizar la cantidad de residuos que deja la construcción.
Chile se caracteriza por ser el primer país en Latinoamérica en contar con una planta de
Revalorización de Desechos de Construcción, de la existencia de empresas que tengan como pilar
de su trabajo a la Sustentabilidad y su Normativa que, junto a la Agenda2030, tienen la intención
de ser un país más amigable con el Medio Ambiente. Sin embargo, la realidad entre las empresas
dentro de la Comuna de Providencia en Santiago refleja algo totalmente distinto a lo esperado dada
la cantidad de teoría que se maneja en el país puesto que solamente el 7% de las empresas que
forman parte de la investigación tienen políticas sustentables aplicadas dentro de su metodología
de trabajo.
The term "sustainable development" refers to the ability to ensure the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, so the commitment of various markets on the carbon footprint was increasing over the years. The construction market is one of the biggest polluters, representing 36% of energy expenditures and 39% of CO2 emissions worldwide, so together with transportation, it has a much greater commitment than other markets to implement sustainable processes in order to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Adding also that global construction investment during 2018 was USD4.5 trillion, of which only USD139 billion was invested in energy efficiency processes (representing 3% of total investment) construction must implement many more policies urgently in order to be part of the 2030 Agenda. This highlights the low interest that construction companies, and investors, have in moving towards a sustainable process and the need to focus on increasing that interest. Among the different methodologies to be implemented that allow construction to contribute to sustainability is the reuse of construction and demolition waste in different ways with the same purpose of minimizing the amount of waste left by construction. Chile is characterized for being the first country in Latin America to have a Construction Waste Revaluation plant, of the existence of companies that have Sustainability as a pillar of their work and its Regulations that, together with the Agenda2030, have the intention of being a more environmentally friendly country.
