The objective of this research was to evaluate the ecotourism potential of mountain biking in the town of Lebu, Biobío region, Chile, a commune that has traditionally been sustained by a large main economic activity, which in the past was mining and today is artisanal fishing, where you can see various problems arising from the way in which this type of fishing is developed, becoming the largest artisanal port in Chile and one of the largest in South America. However, little by little, new ways of obtaining an economic livelihood have been sought within the commune, and one of them may be mountain biking, favored by the large hills surrounding the town and the disposition of landowners in which cycling is developed. This is why a mixed type of research was developed, where previously defined methods were elaborated, such as the cadastre of complementary services for the development of mountain biking, infrastructure, market studies and semi-structured interviews with relevant actors for the research. The main results obtained were the analysis of the demand for mountain biking with the market study applied to different people in the country. The survey of the most relevant complementary services for the development of mountain biking. Interviews with key actors in the community as well as with environmental and social experts. The feasibility of the ecotourism proposal was analyzed with the different parameters that were expected to affect it, reflecting the current scenario for the possible development and implementation of mountain biking in the town of Lebu.
