According to the curricular bases that the Chilean Ministry of education stipulates, the subject of Language and Communication suggests to work through three main fields, ensuring equitable development of different skills that students should acquire, regardless of the socioeconomic status that they belong to. These fields are responsible for articulating knowledge in the subject and thus ensure equal and comprehensive education for all children in the country. Because of the diversity that exists in the educational field throughout the country, this research aims to analyze the methodologies adopted by language and communication teachers. This will develop writing skills in second grade students who belong to a semiprivate school, located in Puente Alto, a city in Santiago de Chile, belonging to a foundation. This research is oriented from the qualitative paradigm, which measurement is performed by means of semi-structured interviews conducted at students level, teacher level and the person in charge of the cycle, also of the analysis of educational programs used complimented by the establishment for teaching the subject. The analysis of the results will be made through the constant comparison method, also using deductive categorization and subcategorization of the information obtained. The results of this research, seek to contribute to the improvement of methodologies and / or existing practices. This will establish a reflection on practical implications for the teaching of writing adopted at this level, and how this may impact significantly at higher levels, as well as other similar situations.
