As a Career chief of the Nursery School of the Maritime University of Chile, 1 have noted with great concern that teachers were evaluated at the end of each semester through an opinion questionnaire to students. Detecting that this was an instance of very subjective evaluation, 1 felt it was necessary to investigate how teachers are evaluated at universities in the country. Such information strongly endorses the need to find a way to evaluate a teacher involving other subjects, with more objective final results. Hence, it can be found in this investigation a proposal for teacher's evaluation that considers four instances: the student's point of view, the leaming process of the students; the teacher's ranking, and the teacher's self-evaluation. The proposal considered the creation of a teaching evaluation questionnaire to get the views of the students, and a teacher's self-evaluation questionnaire. The learning of pupils is calculated by averaging the notes of all students in one particular area, and the teacher's ranking is assigned with a qualification. Each of these four qualifications represents a 25% of the final one. This work has succeeded in obtaining results of a more objective teaching evaluation, which covers four important aspects of teaching. lt is also easy to apply and tabulate, and it's able to be applied at any Chilean University.
