profesional.
The first time a nursing student faces their clinical practice with hospitalized children they feel vulnerable in the clinical environment, because usually when they are admitted they have feelings of fear or anguish when they perform care, which is seen as uncertainty of their knowledge of care, techniques and procedures, as well as challenges in communicating with children and their families. Objectives: to know and understand the experience of undergraduate nursing students during their first practice with hospitalized children. Method: a qualitative study with an approach from the philosophical framework of Alfred Schûtz, carried out through interviews with 8 nursing students who recently studied pediatric nursing. Result: the feelings and perceptions of the students vary in relation to their previous experience and their biographical situation, in addition, it is possible to identify 3 categories: experiencing a new experience, learning to care with the family and Building my professional role.
