dc.description.abstractEste artículo pretende adentrarse en la cultura material de la elite de Santiago en el cambio del siglo xix al siglo xx, con el fin de entender cómo se vincula la esfera del imaginario sobre la infancia con su proyección más tangible, postulando que el entorno material de los niños permite dar cuenta de la construcción del concepto de infancia y de la configuración de prácticas que le son asociadas. En este sentido, las teorías relativas a la educación de los niños, así como las prácticas asociadas a esta crianza, modelan un entorno físico no sólo particular a este sector de la población, sino también en evolución a medida que el cuidado a los niños adquiere una nueva importancia y que se desarrolla una literatura sobre él, incluso con un matiz científico, entre otros desde los preceptos higiénicos.es
dc.description.abstractThis article seeks to explore the material culture of Santiago’s elite in the transition from the 19th to the 20th century, in order to understand how the sphere of the imaginary concerning childhood is linked to its more tangible projection, positing that the material environment of children explains the construction of the concept of childhood and the shaping of the practices associated with it. In this respect, the theories related to the education of children, as well as the practices associated with this upbringing, shaped a physical environment not only specific to this sector of the population, but also in evolution insofar as raising children acquired a new importance and the literature on it developed, with scientific undertones, including hygienic precepts. © 2018 Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. Jose Maria Luis Mora.
