In this report we will study about: medium open pit mining and its unitary mining operations; in addition, we will inquire about the application of the concepts and tools of the Lean methodology in the environment of a mining company. According to the above, a base case called "Mina D Project" was carried out, in which a production plan was developed for the unitary operations of a medium open pit mine with 10 years of operation and an average production of 800,000 tons of copper ore. The production plan established the amount of equipment required for the different years, the daily times required for drilling, loading and hauling (excluding blasting), and their different operational rates. With the data provided in the "Mine D Project", a series of indicators will be created for these operations, which will be monitored to implement various modifications that will have a lean system approach to improve the quality of work of the operators, eliminate waste that can be found and obtain a continuous improvement for the operations. Finally, a control panel or dashboard will be designed in which the most important information will be visualized by means of a graphic representation of the main indicators by unit operation. By means of this control panel, an optimization of the operations will be achieved in order to obtain a strategy in case the indicators do not meet their requirements.
