El objetivo de este resumen de revisiones sistemáticas fue actualizar la
información bibliográfica sobre COVID – 19 y sus posibles mecanismos de repercusión
sobre la cavidad oral de los pacientes adultos contagiados durante la pandemia que se vive
en la actualidad. Se realizo una búsqueda electrónica en las bases de datos; Medline a través
de PubMed, Scopus y Springer, donde se utilizó la estrategia de búsqueda: “COVID – 19 OR
SARS- CoV- 2 AND oral cavity AND oral manifestations". Se analizaron tres revisiones
sistemáticas que mostraron una relación entre el COVID-19 con los trastornos del gusto OR:
7,54 (IC 95 % = 5,24 - 10,86) y Xerostomía OR 0,43 (0.36, 0.50), donde se puede concluir
que esta relación posee un alto nivel de certeza. No obstante, se requieren de más revisiones
sistemáticas con metaanálisis que permitan la toma de decisiones clínicas en torno a otros
tipos de manifestaciones orales.
The objective of this summary of systematic reviews was to update the bibliographic information on COVID-19 and its possible mechanisms of impact on the oral cavity of adult patients infected during the current pandemic. An electronic search of the databases was carried out; Medline through PubMed, Scopus and Springer, where the search strategy was used: "COVID – 19 OR SARS- CoV- 2 AND oral cavity AND oral manifestations". Three systematic reviews were analyzed that showed a relationship between COVID-19 with taste disorders OR: 7.54 (95% CI = 5.24 - 10.86) and Xerostomia OR 0.43 (0.36, 0.50), where it can be concluded that this relationship has a high level of certainty. However, more systematic reviews with meta-analyses are required to allow clinical decision-making regarding other types of oral manifestations.
