La lectura es una prƔctica social que hace referencia al lugar
que el sujeto ocupa en el mundo, y es parte fundamental de
los modos de sociabilidad, de la circulaciĆ³n del pensamiento y de las dinĆ”micas que han modificado las relaciones de poder.
A partir de una genealogĆa de la lectura, en este artĆculo se
revisan conceptos tales como alfabetizaciĆ³n, lectura y lector
desde los artesanos y lectores catĆ³licos de la segunda mitad del
siglo XIX, hasta la construcciĆ³n de un lector emancipado encarnado
en los huelguistas de la editorial colombiana Bedout.
Reading is primarily a social practice; it refers to the place of subjects in the world, it belongs to modes of sociability as well as it accomplishes a key role for both the circulation of thought and the changes regarding power relations. From a perspective of the genealogy of reading, this article reviews concepts such as literacy, reading and reader taking into account diverse milieus. Therefore, we analyze reading culture for artisans and Catholic readers of the second half of the nineteenth century as well as the construction of an emancipated reader such us the strikers of the Colombian publishing house Bedout.
