The purpose of this research is to examine how Leonardo Sciascia through the structure of detective novels, attempts to show the construction of reality by the hegemonic discourse. From this perspective, it will be established that for the author the truth —or its absence— is the center of his work. In his books, the memory, the dialogue between the legitimate and illegitimate power, the ethical conflict as well as the historical reconstruction find their background within the conception of ´elusive´ truth which remains in the shadows, covered by the efforts of the powerful and official History. Through the re-organisation of facts and methods of inchiesta (a subjective form of investigation that seeks to understand History through its deconstruction), Sciascia shows the fictionalization of reality.
